I recently got a nice big tv for the kids but am having some issues
with the display.

Does anyone have any ideas or rough estimations for what it would cost
to have it repaired?

CSS:
Since you just "recently got" it..... you should immediately RETURN it
for a replacement television or a FULL REFUND.
Based on the picture of your problem, it could be a bad CRT? or some
other expensive repair.

From past service experience, this looks very strong to be a short in the
CRT. Return the set!
