Sony TV KV27FS100 - Initial Setup window keeps popping up
 

I have this recurring problem with the set shown in the subject line.
A black box pops up in the center ofthe screen.
It says "Initial Setup" on the tip line
Second line is "Adjust" (or close to that) : Ch +
Third line is "Exit" Ch -

Hitting Ch- doesn't do a thing and, in fact, the remote seems disabled
while thie display is on. It will flash on and off for as long as half
an hour and then quit for a few hours.

Any ideas for solving this without hefting this 102 lb. box to the
service guy or calling in a $100 repair guy
