It's a Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 91 and when it is switched on, it makes a sound like... Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss Tsss etc. Also, the green "on" light flashes in time with the sound. Apart from that, it does nothing else; no picture, no nothing, zip, nishty, nada. I know this is probably a STUPID question, but anyone have any idea if it's potentially repairable? Ta, Mike. Of course it's repairable, *anything* is repairable, as to whether it's worth having repaired, if it's a nice monitor go for it, probably a shorted horizontal output transistor or rectifier diode in the power supply, the pulsing is a classic symptom of that. |

Ok, thanks. What level of expertise is required to check for that and possibly carry out the repair? I only ask, because there are not many repair firms around here, and none that specialise in monitors. Also, the only "electronic engineer" in the area charges a small fortune. Read the sci.electronics.repair FAQ, if you have a multimeter and know how to solder then it's probably something you can fix yourself if you feel like putting some time into it. Otherwise maybe you can find some kid who's wanting to learn to fix things to give it to. |
