Default Gateway solo 5350 problem with screen

left home for a few hours and left my laptop on and came home and saw the
screen was white and this thing is never abused or even used much but its
like flashing full screen white then comes back to normal screen and no
amount of moving it around or closing the screen etc makes it change , it
has a mind of its own and so i rebooted it and even while booting it does
this back n forth ... so i hooked it up to my flatscreen and boooted it and
no problem there ,,was working just fine ,, so my question is , does this
thing have maybe a bad filter or power supply issue that would cause this
???? im very sure its common for the gateway so i figured i would ask here
.... please enlighten me , i sure the heck dont wanna send it to gateway as i
heard they are terrible to deal with ... thanks , Harris

nope , no matter if i push on it , slap on it anything , it doesnt help ..
it only flickers randomly , like every 30 seconds or so .. i hoped it was
that simple ,, it sounds alot like the lcd power supply needs a new cap or i
need a new inverter but not sure just yet ... thanks for replying

Check the cable from the screen where it plugs into the motherboard, the
ribbon cable connector occasionally gets flakey.

If the screen whites out it definitely isn't the inverter, that would cause
the screen to go completely dark. It sounds to me like the typical symptoms
of a cracked LCD ribbon cable. Either that or the electronics on the LCD is
failing.

yeah , i have to agree with you that the inverter is fine at this point ..
oh well i guess its time to send it to gateway .. would be better to do that
then guess at buying parts , that could possibly cost me more .... thanks to
all who replied ....
