Sony GDM-F520 monitor brigthness fix?
Hi guys.
I'm the generally positive owner of a Sony GDM-F520 monitor. Unfortunately the Triniton series often develop problems with the brightness being to high and the focus/contrast becomes a problem. I've found post that tells about a possible fix: http://www.hutzelman.com/home/hardware/mods/monitor/ (the link is down right now, but it describes a resistor called "R459" that it's easy to replace with another one with a higher 4.7-6.8 MOhm) Unfortunately none of them were specifically ment for my F520. I've opened up and it doesn't appear like the one in the turorial and no "R459" resistor. I've checked the monitor's technical manual for that too, and it doesnt have a resistor with that name. I've even mailed Hutzelman, but he didn't know either. So, not being an electronic wiz at all, I would be exited if anyone around here has any relevant experience regarding this monitor's problem. Best regards Eric :) |

Best regards Eric :) Have you tried running to 'color return' function in the menu? It fixes the brightness problem on some of the more recent sony monitors. I think the F520 is new enough for this to work. If not, I have a pdf of the service manual I could send you. Andy Cuffe -- Use this address until 12/31/2005 -- Use this address after 12/31/2005 |
