The chassis model is what is on the printed circuit or internal parts. The
model number is on the outside of the case. There may be changse for
various reasons to the internal workings of a device but from the outside it
will be the same. Say a company puts out a TV set and has some major
problems with the design and is getting a bunch of recalls. They may
redesign the electronics but if they have a lot of cases left they will put
the newer electronics in the old box. It is still the same from the outside
but inside it is differant.

I think it is actually the reverse.

The chassis is made for many models, but can be different for extra options
and the size or model of the picturetube.

Examples are videotext yes or no, picturetube 21" 15" and so, mono sound or
stereo, how many scart (a/v) connections, digital memory or analog signalway

The chassis is adjusted for a model and/or components are different for a
model, but the basics are the same and for repairing it's easier to get the
knowledge for a chassis.
