E_Prom, OBT tuner glue holding SMD becoming conductive, Etc. These tuners
need to be repaired in a very delicate and professional manner.

Are you familiar at all with the integrated design of these tuners?
They're tough to work with if your solder skills are not up to
scratch.

There was, I think, a pair of transistors (don't remember which ones),
and one failing takes out the low channels and the other the high
ones.

The FAQ for this group has information on repairinf these tuners.

Probably the mixer ic. (Flat pack in tuner section made by Sony).
It could be other faults but this one is the most common. Chuck
