So if you get $20,000, which won't make the $25,000 needed to kick
the thing off, what happens to the 20k?

That doesn't happen.


If you read the memo under the Green "Back this project" button:

This project will only be funded if at least $25,000 is pledged by Wed,
Jul 23 2014 9:12 AM MDT.
