Just a couple of days ago I watched a show about acids, I think on the
History
channel. It showed dumping tons of bone chips into acid in the process of
making
gelatin. So that was fresh in my mind.

I had read about it, in the wiki rightup it says this.
"The show, (Futurama) created by Matt Groening, depicts billboards that
advertise a variety of "soylent" foods, including "soylent cola"
(the taste of which, according to Leela, "varies from person to person")"
LOL
MikeK

Oh my, cultural dissonance.

I never watched Futurama. I was referring to the 1973 movie of the
name (and product).

The comments in Futurama were in reference to the movie, that I have no
memory of, but probably should, I graduated high school that year.
And as far as Futurama, I have noticed the show when my 16 yr old son is
watching. And Leela, she's the sexy one with one eye!

I love the bit about "Magnets remove the metal bits", like fillings,
etc. Since when were fillings and other prostheses magnetic ?

Never mind the energy cost of things like liquid nitrogen.

Actually, I don't dislike the second option. It seems less energy-hungry
and yelds more or less the same results as a zinc coffin.

After all, cremation was invented in places where the soil was too frozen
to be dug or the weather too hot for digging.

Once you're dead, you should try to incommodate the livings at least as
possible.

But, before that.... :D

Just like 'green' cars, the costs to the environment far exceed
traditional techniques.

As to magnets picking up fillings, neat trick since they are
non-magnetic: shows just how well thought out this bit of swill really
is!

Yep. I noticed that, too. My artificial hip joint is not magnetic
either.

I'm gonna write into my will, "When I'm dead, donate any viable organs, then
give the rest to some medical school for their training classes."

In fact, I have a brother who's on dialysis; I'd give him a kidney, if there
were some way to get paid for it.

Cheers!

Right.

If they laid the corpse out on the frozen tundra somewhere, wouldn't it
eventually freeze just as solid?

Thanks,

Melt down the tallow, and use it for biofuel, then grind up the rest for
animal feed or plant fertilizer.

Or, just bury the corpse under a tree somewhere, much like the American
Indians did with fish guts. ;-)

Cheers!

I remember when they went to a 3-D movie, with the glasses, and Leela was
moving her glasses back and forth, saying, "Mine don't seem to be working."

Did you know she was voiced by Peg Bundy? ;-)

Most metals are pretty good conductors, thus you can pick up most any
metal using electromagnets. Similar to how a squirrel cage motor works.

Have you ever actually tried this with, say, aluminum or stainless?

Thanks,
