Piezo igniter output waveform - piezo sparker.pdf

These are from a Zippo barbecue lighter, with the load being 1000
Megohms; a Fluke 80k-40 driving a 10 Megohm scope probe. So, the voltages are 1000X indicated! I posted the best responses, many of the others were mundane. The damped oscillations are interesting, and being as constant as they are from hit to hit I suspect there's a mechanical resonance in the igniter structure which is squeezing and stretching the piezo after the hammer hits it. JF Several of my built-in ones have died this past summer (after 10 years), I'm guessing from the heat. Fortunately they seem to be a standard size snap-in item in this town ;-) ...Jim Thompson -- | James E.Thompson, P.E. | mens | | Analog Innovations, Inc. | et | | Analog/Mixed-Signal ASIC's and Discrete Systems | manus | | Phoenix, Arizona 85048 Skype: Contacts Only | | | Voice:(480)460-2350 Fax: Available upon request | Brass Rat | | E-mail Icon at http://www.analog-innovations.com | 1962 | I love to cook with wine Sometimes I even put it in the food |
