Does it tend to spend most of its lit life with just the inner two
burners on? When this is the case, you often see a difference in the
colour of the centre burners after a while. I presume this is due to
accumulation of combustion deposits on the radiant reflector and grill.

Just to be double sure take the venturi / flame mesh assembly off and wash it under the tap (flush in both directions) to make sure no lint or anything remains, all the mesh the flame comes through is clear and no fluf (lint) lurking within/beneath. To check operation of jets or for blockages in the tubes you would need to gas rate the fire. If everything is clean, it passes the gas rate test flue flow test and spillage test with flying colours, you're probably OK as far as I can say without seeing it.
