What do they have to protect their young against?

wolves primarily

Rod Speed has just
said in another thread they they have no natural predators,

Do you actually bother to read anything Rod Speed has to say?

Not really,

BS. You read and try to argue with *everyone* because you have no
friends and nothing better to do. Probably because you are a
psychopath, caused by being exposed to the routine (and so normalised)
slaughter of animals as a child.

I just thought I'd use his 'no natural predators' claim to
counter T i m ' s 'look after their young' claim.

No, you thought you would *try* but like every other time you try, you
fail spectacularly and faceplant. It is *sooo* pathetic I don't
generally bother replying to or even countering it (and nor do many
others, other than other trolls).

So only in your highly blinkered, left brained view of the world would
you think that the only reason a mother might want to 'look after'
their young was because something was directly trying to kill / eat
it.

However, given the biggest predators of livestock in the UK are humans
(and trolls, like you), they would mainly only need to protect their
young from those and do, given the chance.

We have domesticated and exploit the small range of animals (in the
UK) we have because they are usually docile and trusting and aren't
even allowed to protect themselves by the routine removal of their
teeth, horns and being held in frames whilst being killed.
