That's pillar boxes (and similar rectangular ones on poles or set into
walls). The phrase "letter box" is confusing because it can relate both
to places in the street where you post a letter at the beginning of its
journey, and the slot in your front door where the postman puts the
letter when he delivers it to you at the end of its journey.


and that version of Letter Box usually has a closed flap.

The latter can be whatever colour you want - typically a colour that
doesn't clash with the colour of your front door. I've seen plenty of
black ones - ours was black power-coated metal.


I don't see anyone in a Burka loking like a front door.
