I planted mine about 2 feet away from the PVC fence and so far no
problems. That was 5 years ago when they were 3 feet tall.
Most of them are about 8 feet tall today.
However, as far as planting one next to each other, I spaced them out
3 feet to make them look evenly spaced out and it looks nice.
