Polyurethane is pretty much standard at this point. Another factor in
reducing the inevitable scratch's objectionable appearance is the
sheen of the finish. High gloss floors show scratches much more than a
satin finish polyurethane. Whether that's a tradeoff that you will
want to make is a personal preference.
