No, the water won't go from the tank into the bowl if the flapper
valve is broken.

Exactly. That's my point.
Toilets work like this:
1. Tank fills with water.
2. Flush handle opens flapper valve.
3. Water in tank dumps into the bowl.
4. Flow of water creates flushing action.

Well, duh............
There is no valve between the poop and the drain pipe. Otherwise you'd
have to constantly clean poopy drain valves.

The OP clearly said that the water goes from the tank into the bowl.


Not true. The OPs sentence wasn't clear. Read it again.
