Default Stihl Chainsaw throttlenproblem

My MS 430 C has been going great for 18 months but lately the lever
which shuts off the engine has ceased to function.

I slide it up for STOP and it jumps back to RUN.

To stop the engine I put it to foll choke.

Looking inside whenever cleaning the air filter I see nothing unusual,
but how does one know what it all should look like? Is there a source
of drawings / photos of this area? Or, is there a reason this problem
might arise?

Thanks
Phil

I do not own this chainsaw so my observations might not be worth
anything at all.

But ...

Usually this sort of engine kills the motor by shorting it out. When you
take off the housing covering the lever, you should be able to see the
problem immediately. You may also find that there is a detent that has
some sort of problem ... perhaps nothing more than just filled with crud.

My 2 cents worth. Enclose an SASE for a full refund.

Bill

not sure on the stihl but most saws have a spade type electical
connecter at the switch
i would check that to be inplace first, if it looks ok pullt the
connecter off the switch and try gounding out to the saw body by hand,
if it kills the engine you need a new switch.

Bill & Ross - Thanks. I look for the shorting path but cannot
immediately see it. Something may be missing.
