Whoever produces that will clean up! :-) Make sure it smells strongly of acetic acid and divide the "guaranteed years mould free" printed on the tubes by 5-7 to get real years, "5 years guaranteed" means 1, "35 years" means 5 (if you're lucky). Bit like water proofing on watches 10m - you can go out in a shower, 50m - swim, 100m - swim and dive, 200m snorkelling -- Bob Mannix (anti-spam is as easy as 1-2-3 - not) |

A lot will depend on how well ventilated the shower is, how well cared for and how often it is cleaned FWIW I was recommended Dow Corning 785 (just bought another cartridge yesterday for downstairs bog). Used this in our bathroom and looks as good as when it was applied 3 years ago. All major merchants appear to stock it along with their own brand stuff (785 cost me £4.27 for one tube). Read this morning that there is a promotion on and tubes should be available with 20% extra free. Didn't see any of these on the shelves though. Phil |

Whoever produces that will clean up! :-) That's the best way to prevent mold, keep it clean. That's far easier if the sealant is smooth. I've found the plastic finishing trowel things well worth it for this. They leave a nice smooth profile that beats a wet finger anytime. Avoid any low spots where water can gather and it helps to wipe the shower down after use. That also helps avoid scale marks in a hard water area. John |
