Default Vaillant VCW GB 242E Over pressure valve leaking

Vaillant VCW GB 242E Over presure valve leaking - when the heating is
off and the pressure is set to 1 bar -

The over pressure 'saftey valve' is leaking slightly .. ie the system
pressure is slowly dropping and the there is a slow 'drip' from the
vent pipe out side ..

I see the valve appears to be part of the boiler - can be un-screwed -
leaving the housing behind ..

Question is ... can it be serviced ? or is it a sealed unit ? if you
unscrew the 'insert' do you also need to remove the housing to
change it ?

Just need a idea before I make a start !

Tnx G ,

You would replace this with one from a boiler spares shop (real or online).
The VCW is almost unique in having a 22mm discharge pipe on a boiler.
I've never had to replace one of these valve yet and there are a lot of
VCWs around.

1/ Are you sure that it's the pressure valve leaking ?

2/ if so, you could try opening it - give it a good blast, you could
have some crap on the seating

3/ You really should have enough grey matter to answer regarding
replacement or repairability, it's the sort of thing that should be
obvious to anyone with a clue

Are you sure?

Mine was 15mm

Lol well the jive is .. not having seen the inside of the valve - it
would be nice to know if the replacement consists simply of the
removable part that can be un-screwed from the main housing .. or am in
for the bigger job of letting go the vent pipe as well ..if its simply
a needle valve then its possible it may be 'cleaned'

Tried a few times to clear - by pressurising the system and venting ..
no joy .. still have a slow drip from the vent pipe out side ..

the 22 mm is the valve housing . o/p pipe is 15 mm
