we have a cannon cooker. recently the main oven stopped working. the
control knob felt like it wasn't connected to anything but suddenly it
started working again for no apparent reason. now it's packed up again
with the same symptoms. any idea what could cause this

Its got sokem safety system on it, the timer needs to be reset;
download the manual from hoovers web site.
