This guy is one of those who DOESN'T search -- he just asks on a forum, and hopes someone will _give_ him the answer. LLoyd |

Steve - getting r22 requires getting a license or hiring someone with a
license; as you say, not cheap. Freon 22
Thanks Terry. Do you happen to know of any suppliers of containers with
less than a pound of rs-44? Yeah , but didn't they make it "illegal" to use it ? Nope, you just have to be EPA section 608 certified to use it in a stationary unit. Free study guide, free test software. Take a $25.00 online test and you're good to go. I did full 608 and 609 way back when they first came out. If you do A/C work it's best to have both because the rules are rather convoluted. For instance if you need to work on bus A/C units, 609 covers R-12 and R-134a systems, BUT if it's using R-22 you need 608 because it's considered a high pressure unit and NOT a Motor Vehicle A/C unit, Even though it's in a bus! If interested here is a company that does the testing https://www.epatest.com/ -- Steve W. |

No. Say...have you considered Propane as a refrigerant replacement? Ammonia?
