??? you have it listed on ebay atm as a current auction.

I may not have seen the original post but damn, I'd drive there to get that
sucker if it was really free. I think you may have messed up on this usenet
post.

I already listed it twice and it did not sell.

I bought this slide and a little one for $12 at a liquidation
auction. The little one sold for $125.

This one does not want to sell and I do not want to keep it. I will
keep it on auction, but if anyone wants to pick up locally, I will
un-list it. Obviously if it gets bids, which I doubt, I would not
give it away.

My expectation is that no one here who is local, will want it, and no
one will buy it, so I will just give it to the Mexicans.

Some reading above for some one a lot closer to you.

(Ig, winch that puppy up into the back of your truck and haul it to
your local metal recycler. You'll not only get some bucks for it, it
may be salvaged by someone there and get a new home instead of going
to a smelter.)

It would cost $15 in gas to deliver this to the recycler and get $10.

Good point Ig.

How has the higher price of gas affected your scourging activity?

For me it has caused me to pick and choose more carefully where I roam
these days.

It did not affect me much, only very marginally. Even if gas was free,
truck wear and my time would make it not worthwhile to drive to the
scrap yard with this slide.

That doesn't sound too awfully "local" to me. Oh, well.

Apparently you only see a heavy linear slide when you look at it, but I saw
a good basis for a lathe project.

As soon as I saw the picture, I saw a lathe bed and carriage.

It would cost me 60 bucks for gas to get there and back at 35 mpg. I can
get better milage going slower but at 35 mpg it would be a 10:40 hr trip.

If I didn't have so many commitments atm, I'd jump on it as a key part of
cnc lathe.

Wes, if it does not sell, and is not spoken for, I will be glad to
hold it for you.

I personally think that making a homemade lathe is a very misdirected
effort, but it will surely be fun and will earn you a million bragging
rights. You can attach all kinds of leadscrews to this slide.

Recently recieved 169.00 for 1350 in rusty old panel boxes, lawn mowers,
washing machines, and other junk.

At that rate, he would get about 30 bucks.
