Hi folks-

I know the "tub & shower surround caulking question" has been done
nearly to death, and I've googled around, but I've got a specific
question that I could use some advice on.

The new tub/shower surround I put on is nearing completion. The tile
(8"x10" marbled off white) is set and the mortar is setting up. Next
weekend I'll grout with a "Natural Gray" Polyblend grout. It's a fairly
dark gray.

My question is how to handle the two vertical corner seams. While the
tile is reasonably well set and the lines matched up well enough to
please my eye, I did screw up on a few of the corner cut pieces, so I
want to hide about 1/4" on either side of the vertical seams.

So I'm looking at caulks. I don't want to use clear caulk, because one
could see my errors. A white caulk would look bad forming a seam against
the dark gray grout.

I found at HD a product called "Color Caulk" (made by Color Caulk Inc.)
but the closest they had was "Delorean Gray" which is much lighter than
the color of the grout I'm using. I went to their website to see if I
could find and order a closer match, but oddly this product (the Color
Caulk) isn't there! Everything else they sell (mortar, grout, adhesives,
etc.) is listed, but not that product.

The Color Caulk is a latex sanded caulk, with fungicides. In this day
and age is latex caulk really still appropriate for bath use? I'm used
to using silicone based products these days.

Any thoughts here? Experiences, links to good products for this use, and
thoughts on latex versus silicone appreciated.

most manufacturers make a color matching caulk for their grouts. if you
cant find some for your grout, dont use that grout. get other grout with a
similiar color and matching caulk.
