How is this possible? The CDC director says that they don't know how
much vaccine the federal govt has. There are only two suppliers, how
can they not know how much vaccine they have right now, how much
is expected this week, next week, etc?

One thing for sure, Gen Warpspeed was sure full of BS when he was
interviewed by 60 Minutes. He claimed that his team had this all under
control, that they had put in place a world class logistics computer
system that integrated into all the disparate healthcare systems
across the land, that would track each vaccine from manufacturer
to where and when it was administered. He made it sound like FedEX
tracking. I knew when watching it that wasn't going to happen,
that with everyone from CVS to the local health dept giving shots
there was no way it could be tracked anywhere near that well,
that you'd never integrate getting data from all those different
systems, even if you tried. But I grossly over estimated their
competence, since now we just heard that they don't even know
how much vaccine they have period. Maybe I'm missing something,
but I would think a phone call to the two companies would answer
that. Like X mil in inventory, Y mil shipped in the last two days,
Z mil expected to ship next week. Or is team Biden now lying,
trying to make what they inherited look worse than it really is?

You answered your question in the last line. They have no clue to what to do.

No, you just leaped to that conclusion because it's the answer that you
want, regardless of whether it's true or not. It's how you Trumpets got so
divorced from reality to begin with. Something was obviously very wrong
before Biden arrived. The Trump administration said they were holding
20 mil vaccines in reserve for second shots. Then the UK started focusing
on using all available to give the first shot, meaning they would not be able
to give the second to most people in the 2 to 3 week window. President elect
Biden then said he would release the US reserve too. Then a few weeks later,
the Trump administration took up Biden's recommendation, HHS Sec Azar
held a press conference and said they were releasing the reserves. Two
days later he resigned, saying he could no longer be part of a Trump
administration after the Capitol seige. And a couple weeks later, governors
of states were saying they were informed there is nothing more coming,
there were no reserves.
