It is not a VGA monitor. It is a LCD panel. the laptop has a
separate video interface for it.

On the other hand you can go for it, bit only if you want to spend
about $500 for the support electronics, power supply and a lot of work
to make a $120 LCD monitor. Otherwise, just sell it for parts on ebay
and use whatever you get towards a real LCD monitor.

oh... I didn't know that...

I wanted to use the panel as a tv in my bedroom (with TV tuner that has
VGA output)

Thanks for the information

Theres a site somewhere where the folks did this years ago, back when
LCDs were excessively priced. Unfortunately its not easy. At all.

There really ought to be a FAQ on this.

In a nutshell, you can't do it.

In short, not possible with out a major amount of work and $

What's the model #, and what's wrong with it? Maybe you can fix instead?

I'm not sure what is the model (part of the case is damaged) Inspiron-
about 2-3 years old... The MBO is faulty... repair is about 550$

Not if you find the same model for parts on Ebay. Buy one with a
broken display and do a transplant.
