Default u.r.a - variable capacitor

This is (almost) the build so far. I've now added an anti-rotation cam to
the front, restricting the travel to 180 deg. and a rotor connection to the
back.

How did you cut all the plates out to be so similar?

I think I would either jumper connect those two top bolts to
the bottom ones (rather than leave them floating), or
replace them with nylon all thread covered by a length of
rigid plastic tube to act as a spacer.

Got them laser cut. I provided the company with a dxf file of the parts
that I wanted.

My original intention was to just heatshrink the top bars and, possibly,
link them to the rotor.

Grounding and stray body effects will depend on which set of plates is
grounded. Normally you'd do that to the most mechanically complicated
section - the rotor. The stator, being fixed, is easier to isolate.

This circuit (using the single gang unit) has neither side earthed - which
helps keep things interesting. :-)

Here is the first temporary build-up of the dual-gang unit. Just done this
to see if all the spacings work out and so find out the best way of
assembling it. At least this one gets the rotor earthed!
